Today Numerai is introducing a prestige system of titles for all Numerai participants.

Numerai Grandmasters leverages our new account system to reward and recognize the unbounded creativity and talent of the individuals in the Numerai community.

A step towards our vision of bringing together the world’s brightest data scientists, we intend for this ladder of titles, starting at Novice and ending at Grandmaster, to be a rewarding path of progression, challenge and learning for new and experienced participants alike.

We believe these titles will not only guide individuals on their developmental journey but also demonstrate their talent to the broader world.

### How it works

At the start of each calendar year, a new season begins. After 20 staked submissions a data scientist’s account will be assigned a provisional title for that season based on average year-to-date stake-weighted account score rankings. This title can change based on performance throughout the year.

At the end of the year, these provisional titles are finalized.

Grandmasters place first Masters place in the top 10 Experts place in the top 100 Researchers place in the top third Contributors place in the middle third Apprentices place in the bottom third Novices have not yet made 20 qualified submissions.
