## Introducing the Unity Dataset

Numerai released Unity, a new dataset with 1,040 features and real stock identifiers. Users can now source external data and engineer their own features, enabling AI agents to participate in more of the quantitative research process.

Unity is currently available for both Numerai and Numerai Signals. New Unity models can begin testing validation diagnostics, live prediction checks, and model uploading now.

In a recent experiment, we used a single prompt to Claude to generate 1,400 new features from Unity, expanding the feature set from 1,040 to 2,440 and producing Neutral Benchmark Contribution (NBMC).

Beginning November 6, all submissions across both tournaments must use Unity, and payouts will transition to 8xNCORR + 32xNMMC and will be subject to the Neutral Churn Penalty.

## Unifying Numerai and Signals

Numerai and Numerai Signals will merge into a single tournament with one Meta Model for the 2027 season. The detailed Signals migration roadmap will be released this Friday, November 6, to help users prepare for the migration of all Signals models and stakes on January 1, 2027.

Numerai Founder and CEO Richard Craib and Chief Tournament Officer Noah Harasz also hosted a live fireside chat and Q&A covering Unity, tournament unification, and the upcoming transition. The recording is now available.

## Out of Sample

Numerai Grandmaster[ bguberfain](https://numer.ai/~bguberfain?ref=blog.numer.ai) joined the latest episode of *Out of Sample*, presented by Numerai's Council of Elders. Bruno discusses how years of experimenting with complex modeling systems led him to prioritize a simpler, repeatable pipeline and consistent model freshness.

## Other Updates

- Numerai paid out $172,243 worth of NMR in October
- New Unity features will use the int8 data type, while legacy features will remain floating-point, reducing dataset file sizes and memory requirements.
- Model Slots on Signals and Classic have been increased 10x.
- Neutral Benchmark Model Contribution (NBMC) is now displayed on the Signals leaderboard. This shows a model’s unique contribution to the free benchmark model, an offline proxy for the NMMC payout score.
- Simulated theoretical returns are now displayed for unstaked models in the Classic and Crypto tournaments. These use historical scoring multipliers to simulate returns for unstaked models and do not represent earned NMR nor indicate future performance.
