JPMorgan Secures $500m Capacity in Numerai Following Breakthrough Year

The point of Numerai has always been to create a hedge fund for the AI age. Our open platform lets any data scientist — or any AI — submit stock market signals through a simple API. In a world with countless approaches to machine learning, Numerai is built to absorb the best of them.
Traditional quant funds have to specialize in their way of doing things. Numerai is permanently open to new ways — tree ensembles, transformers, or signals sparked by LLM reasoning. That openness is our edge.
Over the past three years, Numerai has grown from managing $60 million to $450 million. Along the way, we’ve had challenges — but each one made the fund stronger. In 2024, Numerai's global equity hedge fund delivered a 25.45% net return2,3 on a 2.75 Sharpe2,3, with only a single down month. It was the best year in our history, and we outperformed many of the quant funds we admire.
And now, the biggest milestone yet: JPMorgan Asset Management has invested in Numerai's hedge fund and secured $500m in capacity. JPMorgan is one of the largest allocators to quantitative strategies in the world including in machine learning quant funds.
Numerai is now scaling the team to match the opportunity. We've recently hired an AI researcher formerly at Meta, a trading engineer formerly at Voleon, and many more. We also repurchased $1 million of our cryptocurrency NMR, deepening alignment with the community of data scientists who power our models.
Since 2015 we’ve believed AI would transform asset management. Numerai was built for that world. And now it’s here.

1 Assuming Founding Class fees of 1% management fee and 20% incentive fees
2 Computed Sharpe Ratios are net of fees and assume a risk free rate of 0%
3 The returns listed above are for Numerai One (the “Fund”). The Fund performance figures are assuming Founding Class net of all fees and expenses, including management fees (1%) and the incentive fee (20% if applicable). Fund returns are inclusive of the reinvestment of dividends and other earnings, including income from new issues. The Year to Date and Inception to Date performance figures have been calculated using a model investor that made an initial investment on day 1, September 1, 2019, and pays full fees, (1%/20% if applicable) with no intra-year contributions or withdrawals. A model 20% incentive fee, when applicable, and 1% management fee, representing the expected fees applicable to typical fund investors, has been applied retrospectively. The performance of individual investors, which may pay possibly differing fees and expenses and participate in new issues, may differ, perhaps materially, from the performance shown. Individual investor returns may vary based on the timing of their contributions, withdrawals and/or varying fee arrangements. Initial investment is subject to the minimum investment amounts established by Numerai. Past performance is not a guarantee of future returns.
